2020 – Current
A collaboration with Alyse Knorr & Ellie Brigida, Sweetbitter is an investigative history podcast with a focus on queer & women’s history. Each season, we explore a different corner of history, using literary works or historical figures as a starting point to discuss a broader story of erasure of people with marginalized identities.
We’ve been featured on Apple’s New & Noteworthy in multiple seasons, with a banner feature in Australia and New Zealand in our first season. We’ve also been featured on Stitcher’s Women in Pop Culture & Indie Pod Picks and PocketCast’s Remarkable Women. At our peak, we made it to the top 10 for history in many countries — including the US, Canada and Australia.
2021 – 2022
A history podcast about the rituals and sacrifices that make America “great”. Join Brooklyn native Carl Joseph-Black and migrant Leesa Charlotte as they unpack the weird, wonderful, and worrying behaviors that make up America.
Each episode we discuss the American way of life from our insider and outsider perspectives. From the Pledge of Allegiance to American Exceptionalism, how did these behaviors become the norm in the USA?
Cult of America is produced in collaboration with Three Springs Media Productions.
We were finalists for iHeartRadio’s Next Great Podcast for our podcast The Murderesses of Cook County Jail.
In this podcast, hosts Lungowe Zeko and Leesa Charlotte take you on a journey into the real-life stories behind one of their favorite musicals, Chicago. Against the backdrop of 1920s Chicago, we’ll explore the untold tales of “criminal” women, and the lasting legacy of Muderess’ row.
2020 – 2021
The Flame tells the story of two women: Jamie (Ellie Brigida), an LGBTQ bar owner, and Sam (Jasmin Savoy Brown), the woman selling the building the bar inhabits, and the inevitable sparks that end up flying between them! With the help of her best friend, Heather (Leigh Holmes Foster), and bar regular Jo (Jenn Colella), can the residents of The Flame keep the bar alive? Or can Sam’s friend Mel (Valerie Rose Lohman) help her work through her complicated feelings about her father’s death and the building she grew up in before she makes a rash decision?
This is an original radio play produced by Lez Hang Out Productions. Part of the Broadway Podcast Network.
I am a part of the vocal ensemble and also assisted in the launch strategy for the podcast.
2017 – 2020
This was my first podcast, where we cover the Syfy Original series Battlestar Galactica and drink craft beer. Starting with my first co-host, Melia Rayner, this podcast was a great soft entry into podcasting – intentionally niche which gave me time to find my voice and hone my skills.
When I relocated to New York, I found a new co-host in Cayley Waldo, and took over the audio editing and production duties from beloved “Producer Tom”.
With 30k downloads, we have a small dedicated fanbase. We’ll be keeping the podcast going for the Battlestar Galactica “reboot” in 2022.
In the meantime, we’ve been keeping the podcast going with bonus content, and will be returning in 2021 on a monthly basis, to discuss the prequel series, Caprica.
2019
I came on to assist in the launch of Narratively’s first podcast, Believable quite late in the piece. I developed their launch and partnership strategy and was able to facilitate a feature with WNYC Studios’ podcast, Snap Judgement, and built relationships for ad swaps with other podcasts.
I had creative input on the first couple of episodes of the show and helped develop podcast ideas and strategy for the future of the business.
Believable launched strongly for a first podcast, in the top 2% of podcasts for listenership.
In this role, I learned a lot about market entry strategy for podcasts along with how advertising works (and doesn’t)
